Monthly flea market Place Georges Pompidou in Mauriac, 1st Sunday of the month
Every 1st Sunday of the month, Mauriac's Place Georges Pompidou comes alive with its flea market. This regular event, open all year round, brings together individuals and professionals around stalls filled with second-hand items, antiques, and curiosities. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., bargain hunters browse the stands in search of good deals in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Place Georges Pompidou, the beating heart of Mauriac, is a large and welcoming space located right in the town center. It is also home to the Office de Tourisme du Pays de Mauriac, at number 13, an information point for passing visitors. The square, autonomously wheelchair accessible, offers an ideal setting for this type of market, with its surrounding shops and cafes that pleasantly complement a Sunday morning outing.
The Mauriac flea market is distinguished by its openness: it welcomes both individuals wishing to sell a few items and antique dealers. Participation is by reservation, at a rate of €1.50 per linear meter. This system allows for good organization of spaces and guarantees a quality market for visitors.
Mauriac, a sub-prefecture of Cantal nestled in the Auvergne mountains, is a small town of character known for its Basilica of Notre-Dame-des-Miracles and its medieval heritage. The monthly flea market contributes to the commercial activity of this town, which plays a central role for the entire northern part of the department. Visitors come from surrounding towns, from Salers to Pleaux, including Riom-ès-Montagnes.
