Freneuse's great all-goods fair on the banks of the Seine in the Yvelines
The Freneuse all-goods fair takes place every year in spring along the Chemin de Halage, on the banks of the Seine. Organized by local associations and the FCFPIF, this traditional Yvelines event brings together private sellers and bargain hunters for a day of outdoor flea market in an exceptional riverside setting. A popular must-attend on the Paris region fair calendar.
Every year in spring, Freneuse, a small Yvelines town on the right bank of the Seine a few kilometers from Bonnières-sur-Seine, organizes its major all-goods fair. The originality of this event lies in its setting: exhibitors set up along the Chemin de Halage, the old towpath that runs along the river and offers a bucolic backdrop to bargain hunters. This particularity makes it one of the most pleasant flea markets in northwestern Yvelines, where people come as much for the finds as for the atmosphere and the riverside stroll.
Organized by local associations, notably the FCFPIF (Freneuse Port-Villez Football Club) and communal festival committees, the Freneuse fair is a charitable event whose proceeds help fund village activities. Exhibitors, mostly locals, unpack toys, clothes, books, tableware, small furniture, tools, and various objects. A few professional dealers also offer sought-after pieces.
Freneuse's Chemin de Halage is an old path once used to pull barges with horses. Now a walking trail, it runs along the Seine for several kilometers and offers a green, soothing setting perfect for strolling. For the fair, this layout transforms the event into a sort of linear market along the water, where visitors slowly walk from one stand to the next while enjoying river views. Few flea markets can boast such a natural backdrop.
Freneuse is a town of about 4,500 inhabitants, halfway between Mantes-la-Jolie and Vernon. Its history is closely linked to the Seine, long a trade and transport axis. The village keeps a few old houses and a medieval church worth visiting.
To make the most of the Freneuse fair, it's best to arrive early: the best deals are made in the morning, and the towpath being narrow in places, the lanes fill up quickly. Bring good shoes and water. Food and drink stalls are usually set up by the organizing associations.
The 2026 Freneuse all-goods fair will be held on Sunday May 24, 2026, all day, on the Chemin de Halage along the Seine. Organized by local associations and FCFPIF. Free admission for visitors.
