Car boot sale organized by the association of firefighters of Hesse
The Hesse firefighters' association organizes its traditional car boot sale every May 1st. The stalls are set up on the square of the village hall and in the streets of the village, offering a treasure hunt route in an exceptional heritage setting.
Hesse owes its name to the Benedictine abbey founded in the 7th century, whose Romanesque abbey church, modified over the centuries, still dominates the village. This remarkable religious heritage coexists with the traditional rural architecture of the Pays de Sarrebourg. The village, crossed by the Bievre, is located in a green valley between Sarrebourg and Phalsbourg.
The Hesse firefighters' association, like in many Lorraine villages, is one of the pillars of local community life. The May 1st car boot sale is an opportunity for the association to finance its activities while offering a moment of conviviality to the inhabitants. Lunch and dinner are offered on-site, making this day a true village festive event.
