About Puces de Baraqueville

The Marché aux Puces de Baraqueville is a monthly event not to be missed for flea market enthusiasts in Aveyron (12160), organized every second Sunday of the month from 7 am to 1 pm under the covered halls of Espace Raymond Lacombe. Created in March 2009 by Patrick and Rodolphe Cosson, this flea market has quickly won over a loyal following of bargain hunters and antique lovers. With 50 to 100 exhibitors depending on the month, the Baraqueville flea market offers a wide range of second-hand goods, antiques, furniture, collectibles, and attic finds in a friendly and accessible atmosphere, with free admission for visitors.

A covered flea market, all year round in Baraqueville

The Marché aux Puces de Baraqueville stands out for its regularity and its covered setting. Located under the vast halls of the Espace Raymond Lacombe, this monthly market is held without interruption throughout the year, every second Sunday of the month. Whether it's raining, windy, or sunny on the hills of the Aveyronnais Ségala, bargain hunters and exhibitors meet in comfortable conditions, protected from the weather. This covered setup, rare for a flea market in a rural area, is one of the event's major assets.

The doors open as early as 7 a.m., when the most discerning bargain hunters are already on site to spot rare items before the crowd. The market is in full swing until 1 p.m., offering six hours of browsing among the stalls. Exhibitors set up from 6 a.m. under the supervision of the stall managers, gradually transforming the halls into a vast open-air attic.

An adventure born in 2009, driven by passion

The history of the Marché aux Puces de Baraqueville began on March 8, 2009, when Patrick Cosson and his son Rodolphe organized the very first edition under the halls of Espace Raymond Lacombe. The success was immediate: about fifty exhibitors took over the premises and the crowd flocked, to the point where it became difficult to move between the stalls. The regional press, including Midi Libre, praised this initiative which filled a gap in the flea market scene in Aveyron.

Buoyed by this enthusiastic reception, the market became monthly and continued to grow. As early as 2010, the number of exhibitors increased from 50 to 70-80 regular stands, reflecting the enthusiasm of the public and professionals. The company PReM, created by the Cossons, structured the organization with a reservation system, internal regulations, and active communication via the website puces12.fr, a Facebook page, and local radio broadcasts.

Baraqueville, a dynamic town in the Ségala aveyronnais

Located in the heart of the Ségala, this granite plateau in western Aveyron with fertile and rolling lands, Baraqueville is a dynamic municipality of about 3,000 inhabitants, the cantonal capital of the community of communes of Pays Baraquevillois. The town is about twenty kilometers north of Rodez, on the national road 88, a strategic axis that makes it easily accessible from Rodez, Albi, or Toulouse.

The Espace Raymond Lacombe, named after the former president of the FNSEA from the Ségala region, is the main multipurpose facility in the town. These covered halls host agricultural fairs, markets, and various events throughout the year, including the famous Baraqueville livestock auction. The flea market on the second Sunday fits naturally into this tradition of exchange and commerce that has characterized this rural town for generations.

A friendly event for all bargain hunting enthusiasts

The atmosphere of the Marché aux Puces de Baraqueville is that of an authentic and popular event, where people come as much to hunt for bargains as for the pleasure of strolling and chatting. Regulars know their favorite exhibitors, negotiate with a smile, and share their passion for antique objects. As the organizers emphasize, visitors are often "regular buyers, also passionate about antique objects," who return month after month in search of a rare item or a good deal.

Admission is free for visitors. A refreshment stand and catering services are available on site, allowing you to extend your morning of bargain hunting. The spacious and free parking facilitates access to the site, including for loading bulky purchases. Whether you are a seasoned collector, a vintage decoration enthusiast, or simply curious, the Baraqueville flea market offers a friendly break every month in the heart of Aveyron.
