Car boot sale, garage sale and vintage vehicle exhibition at the Espace Animation of Luc in Aveyron
The Car boot sale and Garage sale of Luc-la-Primaube is an unmissable annual event of the Aveyron spring, organized at the Espace Animation of Luc. This popular event combines a traditional car boot sale and garage sale with an exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles, attracting bargain hunters, collectors, and car enthusiasts from all over the department. Luc-la-Primaube, a dynamic commune of 6,153 inhabitants located ten kilometers south of Rodez within Rodez Agglomération, offers an ideal setting for this day of treasure hunting and discovery, between private stalls and collector vehicles. On-site catering completes a friendly event that celebrates the art of recycling and the passion for vintage.
Each spring, the Espace Animation de Luc hosts the Car boot sale and Garage sale of Luc-la-Primaube, an event that brings together the pleasure of treasure hunting and the passion for vintage vehicles on the same site. Private exhibitors offer visitors a wide variety of low-priced items — crockery, books, clothes, toys, tools, furniture, and trinkets — while a vintage car and motorcycle exhibition provides additional spectacle for vintage car enthusiasts. This dual identity makes this event unique in the Aveyron flea market landscape.
Located ten kilometers south of Rodez, the prefecture of Aveyron, Luc-la-Primaube is a commune of over 6,000 inhabitants and a member of Rodez Agglomération. Officially created on February 25, 1829, by an ordinance from Charles X, the commune took its current name in September 2005. Its territory of 26.85 km², spanning altitudes between 514 and 740 meters, is situated at the crossroads of the Rodez-Toulouse, Rodez-Millau, and Rodez-Montpellier routes. Luc-la-Primaube hosts over 2,200 jobs in its business parks and has a dense commercial and artisanal fabric, while retaining both rural and urban characteristics with its two peripheral villages.
The commune boasts a rich heritage that is worth a visit before or after the car boot sale. The remains of a Roman aqueduct, visible at La Boissonnade, testify to a 24-kilometer structure that supplied water from Vors to Rodez. The church of Luc, whose priory dedicated to Saint-Maurice was granted to the chapter of the Rodez cathedral by Pope Benedict XIII in 1408, was built in the 15th century and enlarged around 1890. The church of Capelle Saint-Martin, a former pilgrimage site for children, features 15th-century architecture and has been dependent on the abbey of Bonnecombe since 1203. The chapel of Château Planèzes, dated 1619, completes this remarkable heritage ensemble.
The garage sale aspect of the event is particularly popular with DIY enthusiasts, amateur mechanics, and collectors. You can find tools, spare parts, gardening equipment, garage equipment, and all sorts of items from private cellars and garages. The atmosphere is relaxed and conducive to negotiation, in the tradition of rural car boot sales in Rouergue.
