Spring car boot sale organized by the Football Club of Druelle, near Rodez in Aveyron
Each year, the village of Druelle, within the new commune of Druelle-Balsac, hosts its car boot sale, a popular event organized by the Druelle Football Club. This event brings together the local community and visitors from surrounding towns around the pleasure of bargain hunting, good humor, and sharing. Private sellers set up in the village streets to offer bargain hunters a multitude of items at low prices.
Druelle-Balsac is a French commune in the department of Aveyron, in the Occitanie region, created on January 1, 2017, by the merger of the former communes of Druelle and Balsac. A member of Rodez Agglomération, it benefits from immediate proximity to the prefecture while retaining its rural and authentic character. Its hilly terrain, extending over more than 51 km² between 374 and 668 meters above sea level, offers magnificent panoramas of the Aveyron hills.
The commune holds several heritage treasures worth visiting before or after the car boot sale. The Château de Balsac, the Pont du Commencau, and the Prieuré du Sauvage bear witness to a rich history dating back to the Carolingian era. Balsac was indeed the capital of a "ministerium" in the 9th century, and Pepin, King of Aquitaine, granted the parish to the Abbey of Conques in 838. Druelle, for its part, was on the route from Rodez to Villefranche-de-Rouergue and belonged to the Saint-Paul family from 1171.
The Vide-Grenier de Druelle-Balsac offers a wide variety of items typical of rural Aveyronnais events: crockery and ceramics, books and comics, clothing and shoes, toys and board games, tools and gardening equipment, furniture, and decorative trinkets. Flea market enthusiasts appreciate the variety of items offered at negotiable prices, in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.
Beyond bargain hunting, the Vide-Grenier de Druelle-Balsac is also an opportunity to enjoy a moment of conviviality. The Druelle Football Club, organizer of the event, usually offers a breakfast and on-site catering, allowing visitors to regain strength between finds. Aveyronnais specialties, such as tripous, are sometimes on the menu, much to the delight of local gastronomy lovers.
The car boot sale takes place from 9 am to 5 pm in the village of Druelle. Admission is free for visitors. It is advisable to arrive early in the morning to find the best deals. Druelle-Balsac is easily accessible from Rodez, just a few minutes away by car. Parking spaces are available on the outskirts of the village.
