Biweekly flea markets at the municipal campsite
The Maillezais municipal campsite, steps from the famous Saint-Pierre Abbey, runs a series of recurring flea markets for the 2026 season. From early April to late September, about fifty dates are listed on Brocabrac, roughly two per week (Tuesdays and Sundays). A Vendée original blending holidays, heritage and summer bargain hunting.
Campers and visitors empty their vans, caravans and holiday homes while locals come to browse. Relaxed summer atmosphere, plus the charm of the abbey and Marais poitevin canals.
A village of around 1,000 known for its 10th-century Saint-Pierre Abbey, still spectacular in partial ruin. A major Vendée heritage site drawing thousands of visitors a year.
Still uncommon in France: the recurring campsite flea market relies on camper turnover and holidaymakers with time to wander. Each date stands alone with mixed local/tourist clientele.
Saint-Pierre Abbey, marsh canal boat rides, neighbouring villages (Damvix, Le Mazeau, Maillé), and Fontenay-le-Comte Renaissance 20 min away.
