Car boot sale organized by the Le Brasero brewery on the Saint-Jean Oulrich road, in the Mecca of Cubism
Céret, sub-prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales and historic capital of Vallespir, hosts the Le Brasero Brewery car boot sale on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The event takes place at 800 Route de Saint-Jean Oulrich, on the outskirts of the city, in the convivial setting of this local brewery. With its 8,053 inhabitants, Céret established itself at the beginning of the 20th century as a high place of modern art. Nicknamed "the Mecca of Cubism" by André Salmon, it welcomed Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Juan Gris, Chaïm Soutine, Marc Chagall, Raoul Dufy and Henri Matisse during creative stays that marked art history.
The car boot sale runs from 7 am to 6 pm, offering wide hours for bargain hunters and exhibitors. Private individuals offer an eclectic mix of items: clothes, dishes, books, toys, trinkets, vinyl records, small furniture and various objects. The brewery provides catering and drinks on site.
After bargain hunting, visitors can reach the historic center of Céret to discover the Museum of Modern Art, expanded in 2022, which houses 78 Picasso pieces, 57 of which were donated by the artist himself. The collections trace the intense relationship between Céret and the great masters of the 20th century.
