Bargain hunting and crafts in the Gaillac wine country
Labastide-de-Lévis sits in the Gaillac wine country between Gaillac and Albi, backed by vineyards. Its village center preserves the medieval bastide layout and hosts several community events. The May flea market, held around the town hall and library, has become one of the friendliest in the area, mixing private flea market and creators' fair.
With about 35 private slots, the event keeps a human scale. Local exhibitors unpack their bric-a-brac: clothing, toys, books, crockery, small furniture, old linen, vinyl, and curiosities. In parallel, a creators' fair highlights northern Tarn craftsmanship — ceramics, jewelry, textiles, natural cosmetics, engraving, decoration — offering a real counterpoint to traditional flea market.
The flea market is a good opportunity to discover Labastide-de-Lévis and its vineyards. Vine landscapes, Gaillac estates, and nearby bastide villages — Cahuzac-sur-Vère, Castelnau-de-Montmiral, Puycelsi — invite you to extend the day.
A relaxed, warm atmosphere typical of small rural Tarn flea markets. Refreshments and snacks on site. Bring cash, a bag, and take time to wander both sides.
