The great summer flea market of the Vère Grésigne Football Club
Every July, the Vère Grésigne Football Club (FCVG) transforms its sports grounds into a vast bargain-hunting village. This now unmissable event of the Cahuzac summer attracts far beyond the northern Tarn. Lovers of second-hand goods, families holidaying in the Gaillac vineyards, campers from nearby sites: all meet in the cool of Sunday morning to wander the aisles.
Around 120 sellers, mainly private but also a few semi-professionals, lay out on a shady site. You find the usual bric-a-brac of rural flea markets: old farming tools, grandmother's crockery, antique linen, toys, books, furniture, trinkets and those indefinable objects that make every good hunt. The proximity of the Grésigne forest and the wine country sometimes shines through in the stalls: old wine presses, winegrower's tools, hunting-related items.
Cahuzac-sur-Vère is one of the prettiest villages of the Gaillac vineyards, nestled in the Vère valley between Cordes-sur-Ciel and Gaillac. Its Romanesque church, vine-clad slopes, Grésigne forest and neighbouring châteaux make it a natural tourist stop. The flea market is the perfect opportunity to combine bargain-hunting and wine tourism: several estates open their cellars on Sundays.
The event runs from 7am to 5pm at 535 route de Vieux. Refreshments and hot catering (grills, chips) run by club volunteers allow lunch on site. In early afternoon, sellers agree their best prices. Leaving with a find and a bottle of local wine is the promise of the FCVG flea market.
