The big summer bargain hunt at the heart of the Maures massif
For many residents of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and the Maures massif, the June flea market in La Garde-Freinet marks the true start of the brocante season. Held on Place Neuve, shaded by plane trees, it brings together sellers from nearby villages and second-home owners clearing attics as summer houses reopen.
Organised by Vivons La Garde-Freinet, it runs from 8.30am to 5pm on a Saturday, in a classic village atmosphere. Admission is free and sellers register in advance with the association or the local tourist information office.
The market is predominantly private-led: clothes, toys, books, crockery, small furniture, trinkets and decor. Typical Provençal finds (faience, linen, old farming tools) add to the charm. A handful of local professionals complete the offer with furniture and curios.
The village is well worth a full day: old alleys, the Saint-Jean chapel, the ruins of Fort-Freinet overlooking the valley, and local chestnuts, honey and olive oil. The Rue de la République terraces offer great lunch stops close to the stalls.
Reached via the D558 from Grimaud (20 min) or Sainte-Maxime (30 min). Parking at the village entrances; Place Neuve is pedestrianised for the event.
Saturday 20 June 2026, 8.30am to 5pm, on Place Neuve.
Mostly private, a few local professionals. Bookings on +33 6 81 26 32 00 or by email to [email protected].
