Monthly multi-collection fair on the upper Canebière in Marseille, the first Saturday of each month
The Journée des Collectionneurs de la Canebière is a monthly event not to be missed for bargain hunters and collectors in Marseille. Every first Saturday of the month, the allées de Meilhan, on the upper part of the famous Canebière in the Chapitre district (1st arrondissement), host fifty to seventy professional flea market dealers and antique dealers. From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., under the plane trees that shade the avenue, exhibitors offer a wide selection of collectible items: old stamps, regional and historical postcards, rare books, paintings and prints, vintage toys, old vinyl records, as well as small furniture and trinkets. Organized by the association Art Collection Organisation, this free-entry multi-collection fair has become a regular fixture of Marseille's cultural life, attracting seasoned collectors and curious strollers in a friendly and Mediterranean atmosphere.
Every first Saturday of the month, the upper Canebière transforms into a collector's paradise. On the allées de Meilhan, in the Chapitre district, fifty to seventy professional exhibitors—flea market dealers, antique dealers, and specialized collectors—set up their stalls under the century-old plane trees of Marseille's most famous avenue. The Journée des Collectionneurs de la Canebière is one of the most regular and oldest events in the Marseille flea market scene.
The strength of this market lies in the diversity of its offerings. Visitors can discover and purchase:
Each exhibitor is a specialist in their field, capable of advising and guiding buyers, whether they are experienced collectors or simply amateurs looking for an original item.
The location chosen for this fair is no accident. The allées de Meilhan, located on the upper part of the Canebière between cours Belsunce and the Réformés square, offer a tree-lined and airy setting ideal for strolling. During the warmer months, the shade of the plane trees protects exhibitors and visitors from the Mediterranean sun. Nearby cafes and bars offer a place to take a break for a coffee or mint tea before resuming the hunt.
The Chapitre district is historically linked to Marseille's commerce and cultural life. The establishment of this collectors' fair is part of a long tradition of markets and fairs that have animated the Canebière for decades.
The Journée des Collectionneurs is open to all, with completely free entry. Exhibitors welcome visitors from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., allowing ample time to browse all the stalls. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed: people chat, negotiate, and share anecdotes about their finds. It's also a meeting place for generations, where long-time collectors mingle with young enthusiasts discovering the world of flea markets and collecting.
Access is easy thanks to the proximity of the Réformés-Canebière metro station (line M1) and numerous bus lines (49, 55, 60, 61, 82, 82S, 83), making this event easily accessible from all parts of Marseille and the surrounding Bouches-du-Rhône region.
The Journée des Collectionneurs de la Canebière continues in 2026 with its monthly events on the allées de Meilhan in Marseille. Every first Saturday of the month, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., find 50 to 70 professional exhibitors offering stamps, postcards, books, vintage toys, vinyl records, and collectible items. Free entry.
