The annual book, CD, DVD and games exchange at the Maurice Ravel hall
Every 8 May, Issou offers an event that stands out from the traditional everything fair: the Cultural Exchange. The principle is simple but original: gather private individuals and enthusiasts in one place to exchange, sell or buy exclusively cultural goods. Books, CDs, DVDs and board games are offered at attractive prices, in a spirit of sharing and giving cultural objects a second life.
The event takes place at the Maurice Ravel village hall, Issou's emblematic cultural and festive venue. This sheltered space is ideal for displaying books and other items sensitive to early May weather. Visitors can browse calmly between tables, take time to leaf through a book or examine an album cover.
Books naturally take centre stage: novels, thrillers, comics, children's books, practical works, art books, schoolbooks, sometimes older or original editions. CDs and DVDs allow collectors to complete their collections at small prices, as physical formats become rarer in stores. Board games, from the classic family favourite to more modern titles, delight parents and gaming enthusiasts.
Specialised cultural exchanges are relatively rare on the Yvelines calendar, making this event eagerly awaited by reading and collecting fans. Unlike a general flea market, there's a higher density of sought-after items, making browsing and bargains easier.
Holding the exchange on the 8 May public holiday (anniversary of 1945 Victory) attracts a family audience on holiday or a long weekend, often available for this kind of local outing.
