Guernes' summer flea market, bargain-hunting event in a Yvelines village
Guernes is a small rural commune of about 1,000 inhabitants located in the Seine valley, a few kilometers from Mantes-la-Jolie. Every year in June, the village comes alive to host its summer flea market on the rue de Mantes, the main street that crosses the locality.
With around 50 exhibitors, the Guernes flea market remains a village event, modest in size but full of charm. Stalls line rue de Mantes, turning this normally quiet street into a lively bargain-hunting lane.
As often in village flea markets, organizing associations offer on-site catering: cold drinks, sandwiches, fries, crepes, sometimes homemade pastries prepared by volunteers.
Guernes belongs to the string of villages along the Seine in the Mantes area, between Moisson, Rosny-sur-Seine, and Rolleboise.
Flea markets like Guernes, small and held in lesser-known villages, are often great spots for savvy bargain hunters. Competition is lower than in Paris or larger cities.
