Retro Mantes: the unmissable vintage rendezvous in Ile-de-France

Organised every spring at the Parc des Expositions de l'Ile l'Aumone in Mantes-la-Jolie, Retro Mantes has become over the years one of the most important multi-collection vintage fairs in the Paris region. This demanding event brings together for two days, Saturday and Sunday, everything that retro passion can count: collectors of classic cars and motorcycles, car clubs, dealers specialising in spare parts, vinyl record sellers, heritage craftsmen, retro video game and pinball enthusiasts. The 2026 edition will take place on 18 and 19 April, with renewed ambition to appeal to enthusiasts and the curious.

A high-level auto-motorcycle-moped exchange fair

The historic heart of Retro Mantes remains the spare parts exchange fair for classic vehicles. Owners of collector cars, motorcycles and mopeds from before 1990 come in numbers, hunting for the missing piece for a restoration: period carburetor, original headlight, unobtainable technical manual, fully restored motocross saddle. It is an ecosystem in its own right, where experts and enthusiasts exchange knowledge, contacts and rare parts in an open club atmosphere. A meaningful gesture: drivers of vehicles from before 1990 benefit from free admission, in recognition of their participation in preserving motorised heritage.

An exhibition of pre-1990 vehicles

Alongside the exchange, the fair hosts a large exhibition of classic vehicles. 60s-70s sports sedans, chrome-plated Americans, British motorcycles, teenage mopeds, popular French cars: mechanical diversity is there, with gleaming pieces often lovingly restored by their owners. Several car clubs participate and present their vehicles, offering visitors a true rolling retrospective of 20th-century automotive history. For photographers and nostalgics, it is a godsend.

Multi-collection: beyond vehicles

Retro Mantes is not limited to the automobile and motorcycle world alone. The fair showcases other vintage and collection passions: retrogaming with 80s-90s consoles and games to rediscover or buy, period pinball machines, vinyl records in bulk or carefully labelled, miniatures and modelling, advertising items, posters and heritage crafts. This diversity gives the show an Ali Baba's cave atmosphere much appreciated by visitors, where one easily spends several hours rummaging through the stalls.

The Parc des Expositions de l'Ile l'Aumone, located on an island of the Seine in Mantes-la-Jolie, offers an ideal setting for this type of event: vast covered spaces to shelter vehicles and stands in case of bad weather, substantial car parks, road accessibility from the A13. The site hosts several major annual events in Mantes-la-Jolie and has won the trust of organisers specialising in vintage and collection. The town itself, sub-prefecture of Yvelines on the edge of Normandy, is also worth a visit: its Notre-Dame collegiate church, its old bridge and its historic town centre pleasantly complement a day at the show.

While Retro Mantes is primarily a connoisseurs' event, it also knows how to welcome a family audience. Free admission for children under 14 accompanied, the diversity of stands that appeal to all generations and the displayed vehicles that make young and old dream make the show an ideal outing for a spring weekend. Parents rediscover their youth through a 4L or a moped, children discover machines that bear no resemblance to contemporary cars, and the whole family leaves with the memory of a moment spent against the current of time.
