On Friday, August 15, 2025, Saint-Préjet-d'Allier celebrated its annual grand summer festival by the Allier river, in the spectacular setting of the river's Gorges. From 6 a.m., exhibitors took over the riverbank to set up their stalls of flea market items, antiques, and second-hand goods. With its completely free pitches, the event brought together about a hundred vendors from all over Haute-Loire and neighboring departments.
The artisan market alongside the flea market offered a panorama of local creations and regional produce from the Auvergne area: pottery, textiles, dairy products, cured meats, and local sweets. The fairground rides set up for the day delighted families, while the Foyer J.E.P. prepared the day's signature meal under its large tent: aligot-saucisse, served at €15 for adults and €7 for children. This emblematic dish, prepared in large quantities in steaming cauldrons, brought together several hundred diners in a gourmet and festive communion typical of village festivals in Haute-Loire.
