The biggest street sale in Touraine, annual back-to-school event in the city center of Tours
The Grande Braderie de Tours is the commercial and festive back-to-school event in Indre-et-Loire. Every year in September, the city center of Tours transforms into a huge open-air market where established merchants, flea market vendors, and individuals offer great deals, antiques, and second-hand items. Boulevard Heurteloup hosts the merchants, Boulevard Béranger hosts the flea market vendors and exchanges between individuals, while Place de la Résistance offers an eco-responsible hub.
For over 30 years, the Grande Braderie de Tours has marked the return of back-to-school in Touraine. On the first Sunday of September, the heart of the city comes alive with unique excitement: Boulevard Heurteloup hosts established merchants selling off their collections, while Boulevard Béranger is adorned with stalls from professional flea market vendors and SWAP between individuals. You can find clothing, accessories, furniture, decoration, books, toys, and unusual items at bargain prices. Place de la Résistance offers an eco-responsible hub with upcycling artisans, charities, and local creators.
Tours, prefecture of Indre-et-Loire, is the gateway to the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city combines medieval heritage — Vieux-Tours and Place Plumereau — and classical architecture with its Saint-Gatien Cathedral and its Museum of Fine Arts. The Grande Braderie offers an opportunity to rediscover this city of art and history while enjoying great deals in an exceptional urban setting, between the Loire and Cher rivers.
The Grande Braderie de Tours has evolved to include an eco-responsible dimension. The dedicated hub at Place de la Résistance highlights second-hand goods, upcycling, and the circular economy. The City of Tours also organizes a sale of school furniture on Rue Nationale, a rare opportunity to acquire characteristic furniture at a low price. Food is available on-site with numerous stands and the restaurants in Tours city center.
The Grande Braderie de Tours returns on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in the city center. Street sale, flea market, SWAP between individuals, and eco-responsible hub. Free entry.
