Grande Braderie d'Aubusson

A historic event since 1978

The Grande Braderie d'Aubusson was created in 1978 by Jacques Dabin and has been growing ever since. Having become an unmissable summer event in Creuse, this festival brings together every August 14th over 100 exhibitors and thousands of visitors in the streets of Aubusson's city center, a world capital of tapestry.

A festive day from 10 am to 10 pm

From 10 am to 10 pm, the city center of Aubusson transforms into a vast space for celebration and commerce. Shopkeepers and artisans sell off their stock on the sidewalks, while exhibitors offer clothing, accessories, crafts, and local products. Traffic is prohibited from 7 am on August 14th to allow for stall setup and ensure visitor safety.

An exceptional entertainment program

The Grande Braderie is not just about shopping: it offers a varied entertainment program that punctuates the entire day. Strolling brass bands, street performances, face painting for children, balloon sculpting, and giant bubbles create a joyful and colorful atmosphere. The firefighters also participate with demonstrations, a ladder truck, and their traditional pancake sale. Food trucks and local restaurateurs offer special menus for the occasion.

Aubusson, UNESCO World Heritage Site

Aubusson, whose tapestry has been inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2009, offers an exceptional heritage setting for this street sale. The International Tapestry Center, the half-timbered houses of the old town, and the banks of the Creuse river make this day a cultural as well as commercial experience.
