Grand car boot sale, flea market and summer flea market on the Place de Livinhac-le-Bas in Capdenac-Gare, Aveyron
The Grand Car Boot Sale Flea Market Flea Market of Capdenac-Gare is a major summer event held every summer on the Place de Livinhac-le-Bas, a historic hamlet in this railway town in Aveyron (12700). Organized by Jean Michel Viguier, this event combines three types of treasure hunting in one day: car boot sale, professional flea market, and flea market. With 50 to 100 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, the event offers a wide selection of second-hand items, antiques, and attic finds. Entry is free for visitors. Distinct from the spring flea market in Saint-Julien d'Empare, this major summer gathering attracts treasure hunters and strollers from all over the Lot valley and northern Aveyron.
Every summer, the Place de Livinhac-le-Bas transforms into a vast open-air flea market during the Grand Car Boot Sale Flea Market Flea Market of Capdenac-Gare. This event, organized by Jean Michel Viguier, brings together between 50 and 100 exhibitors, mixing private sellers and professional flea market dealers. The combined format of car boot sale, flea market, and flea market makes it one of the most comprehensive treasure hunting events of the Aveyron summer, distinct from the spring flea market held in Saint-Julien d'Empare in April.
From 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the square's alleys buzz with the activity of early morning treasure hunters and strollers enjoying the summer atmosphere. Exhibitors, set up from 6 a.m., display their treasures on stalls: the whole day is dedicated to discovery, negotiation, and the pleasure of the unexpected find.
Livinhac-le-Bas is a hamlet in the commune of Capdenac-Gare, nestled in the Lot valley in Aveyron. This locality retains the charm of an Aveyronnais rural village with its stone houses and green setting on the banks of the river. The hamlet's square, usually peaceful, transforms for this great flea market day into a space bustling with activity and conviviality.
Capdenac-Gare itself is a unique commune, born from the establishment of a station on the Montauban-Lot line in 1858. The town became a major railway hub in the south of the Massif Central, a crossroads for the Decazeville and Aubin coal basin. Opposite it, on the right bank of the Lot, the oppidum of Capdenac-le-Haut, a Gallo-Roman site perched on a rocky outcrop, offers a spectacular panorama of the valley. This heritage richness adds a cultural dimension to the visit of treasure hunters coming for the flea market.
The combination of three formats - car boot sale, flea market, and flea market - guarantees an exceptionally diverse offering. Visitors can discover:
The careful organization helps make this day a pleasant experience for everyone. A snack bar and a catering area are set up on-site, allowing visitors and exhibitors to eat without leaving the premises. Exhibitors receive a free coffee in the morning upon arrival, a welcome gesture. Restrooms and parking are also available, facilitating access and comfort for everyone throughout the day.
Various activities punctuate the day, adding a festive dimension to this event which goes beyond the simple framework of a flea market to become a true popular summer festival in the heart of Aveyron.
