The great spring flea market of Saint-Ouen in the Nièvre valley
The Grande Réderie of Saint-Ouen is one of the essential spring gatherings in the Somme. Organized by the town hall on Rue Philippe Louis and Rue de la République, this flea market brings together around 300 individual and professional exhibitors from across the region. A great popular display from 6am, with on-site catering, for a full day of treasure hunting in the joyful atmosphere of large Picardy réderies.
Located in the Nièvre valley, about ten kilometres north of Amiens, the commune of Saint-Ouen (not to be confused with its namesake in Seine-Saint-Denis) hosts each year one of the largest flea markets in the Somme department. Organized by the town hall, this event brings together around 300 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, on Rue Philippe Louis and Rue de la République, transformed for one day into a vast open-air commercial space.
From 6am, exhibitors set up their stands to welcome the first bargain hunters, those who know that the best deals happen at dawn. Until 5pm, the event offers a colossal display: antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, vintage clothes, books, records, toys, tools, postcards, collectibles, bric-à-brac and curiosities. The combination of individuals (often residents clearing family attics) and professionals (regional antique and flea market dealers) guarantees a diversity of finds and price ranges.
Saint-Ouen (80610) is a commune of more than 3,000 inhabitants, which experienced an industrial history linked to textiles (manufacturing of velvet, jacquard fabrics) in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, former factories and brick workers' houses compose an original heritage that testifies to this industrial past. The Nièvre valley, with its ponds and green landscapes, offers a pleasant setting for walkers.
The Grande Réderie of Saint-Ouen attracts a large audience, coming from Amiens, the whole of the Somme and neighbouring departments. On-site catering (food trucks, chip stalls, sandwiches, crêpes, refreshment bars) allows you to spend the whole day on site. The popular, good-natured and typically Picardy atmosphere makes this réderie a highlight of local life, awaited all year long.
Stand prices are €6 for 3 metres for individuals and €17 for 3 metres for professionals, remaining very affordable compared to other major regional flea markets. Registrations are made with the Saint-Ouen town hall. For visitors, admission is free all day. It is advisable to arrive early in the morning to fully enjoy the event and benefit from the widest choice.
