The spring réderie of the Nièvre valley
Every spring, Saint-Léger-lès-Domart organizes its annual réderie, an event well-established in the calendar of Picardy May réderies. This village of about 1,200 inhabitants in the Nièvre valley has cultivated this village bargain hunting tradition for several years.
The streets welcome private individuals and some professionals offering a wide range: tableware, family clothes, toys, old books, comics, vinyl records, old papers, tools, lamps, small furniture, trinkets. Accessibility of prices is part of the spirit.
The Nièvre valley winds between the Picardy plateau and the Somme. Saint-Léger is one of its emblematic villages, with its Saint-Léger church, red brick houses and industrial heritage. The region, less known than the Bay of Somme, is worth the detour for its preserved character.
The "réderie" is much more than a simple flea market: it is a moment of community life. The word probably comes from the Picardy verb "réder" (to wander, to stroll): coming to the réderie means taking the time to stroll between stalls.
