Fair of antiques and military objects from all eras at the Plan du Bassin in Frontignan
Every year in September, the Plan du Bassin in Frontignan hosts the Military Antiques Fair. About twenty specialized exhibitors display their showcases and stands offering period uniforms, decorations and medals, regimental insignia, military documents and photographs, deactivated weapons, helmets, field equipment, and miniatures of war vehicles. Collectors and amateur historians come from all over Languedoc to complete their collections or discover rare pieces testifying to the conflicts that have marked the history of France.
Frontignan (34110), famous for its Muscat, is a town of 23,000 inhabitants located between the Étang d'Ingril and the garrigue of the Gardiole massif. The Plan du Bassin, a large esplanade in the center of the commune, is the traditional gathering place for markets and events. The proximity of the Bassin de Thau and the Mediterranean coast adds to the charm of this fair, which visitors can extend with a Muscat tasting in the cellars of the town center.
The association of the Combattants d'Algérie, Tunisie, Maroc (CATM) of Frontignan la Peyrade organizes this fair in a spirit of memory and transmission. The event is not limited to the trade of objects: it is also a place for exchange and sharing around French military history. The exhibition of period military vehicles, carefully restored by enthusiasts, adds a spectacular dimension to this event accessible to all.
