The Foire Ferraille et Jambon: a popular festival in Goëlo

Since 1995, every third Sunday of July, the village of Plouézec buzzes to the rhythm of its Foire Ferraille et Jambon. This festive event, born from the initiative of two local sports associations, has become one of the unmissable summer events in Côtes-d'Armor, attracting thousands of visitors to this coastal village in Goëlo, between Paimpol and Saint-Quay-Portrieux.

Scrap metal, ham and flea market

The village streets are transformed into a huge open-air market where 120 to 130 exhibitors mingle. Scrap metal dealers offer old tools, mechanical parts, utensils and metal curiosities. Pork butchers grill the famous spit-roasted ham, its aroma filling the alleys. Flea market traders and individuals complete the offering with furniture, crockery, trinkets, toys and clothes. Food stalls also offer crepes, grills and local Breton products.

Entertainment from morning to fireworks

The fair is not just about bargain hunting and gastronomy. Street entertainment punctuates the day: retro singing shows, bagad parades, juggling and acrobatics demonstrations, Breton dance initiations and blacksmithing demonstrations. In the afternoon, a music competition from 3 PM to 9 PM gives young bands the chance to perform on stage. A DJ set from 9 PM to 11 PM takes over before the fireworks at 11:15 PM, the highlight of this festive day.

The associative and volunteer spirit

The Foire Ferraille et Jambon is organised by two sports associations from Plouézec: Les Goélands Basket and the Entente Cycliste du Goëlo. Around thirty volunteers mobilise from dawn to ensure the smooth running of the event. The profits are reinvested in the sports activities of the two clubs, anchoring the event in local associative life.
