Solidarity car boot sale with African crafts, raising funds for development in Burkina Faso
The Foire aux Miettes of Soisy-sur-Seine is far more than a simple car boot sale: it combines the convivial atmosphere of a flea market with humanitarian commitment. Run for many years by SAAM (Soisy Aide Au Monde), this annual September event is one of the most anticipated in the commune and beyond.
SAAM is an international solidarity association working from Soisy-sur-Seine on development projects in Africa, mainly Burkina Faso. The Foire aux Miettes is its main fundraising event: every euro from seller registration fees and association sales goes directly into concrete projects — school construction, water access, vocational training, women's empowerment.
Soisy-sur-Seine sits in the great Seine loop between Corbeil-Essonnes and Saintry-sur-Seine, in a preserved semi-rural setting shaped by the river, woodlands and market gardens. Despite proximity to Corbeil-Essonnes agglomeration, Soisy has kept its village identity and rich associative fabric.
