Floralies and car boot sale organized by the Comité des Fêtes of Castéra-Lectourois, a hilltop village in Lomagne
Castéra-Lectourois (32700), a hilltop village in the Lomagne region of Gers, hosts its floralies and car boot sale every spring. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes, this event marks the arrival of fine weather by combining a plant festival with a traditional village car boot sale.
The originality of the event lies in the combination of two complementary aspects. The floralies section brings together nursery gardeners, horticulturists, and gardening enthusiasts who offer vegetable plants, aromatic herbs, flowers, roses, shrubs, and plants of all varieties. The car boot sale section allows individuals to sell their second-hand items: clothes, toys, tableware, trinkets, tools, books, and various curiosities. Visitors thus move from flowery stands to flea market stalls in a rustic and friendly atmosphere.
Castéra-Lectourois is one of those characteristic hilltop villages of the Lomagne gersoise, occupying a rocky spur that overlooks the Gers valley. Its name evokes both the medieval castrum (fortified castle) and the proximity of Lectoure, the former capital of Lomagne. The village offers spectacular viewpoints over the surrounding hillsides and the alluvial plain. The floralies and car boot sale take advantage of this exceptional setting, offering visitors an experience combining treasure hunting, nature, and landscape heritage.
In the rural villages of Gers, the festival committees play an essential role in local animation. That of Castéra-Lectourois organizes throughout the year the events that punctuate the life of the village. The floralies and car boot sale in May are one of these highlights, attracting residents from neighboring towns and visitors passing through Lomagne.
