The Ascension Day rendezvous in the medieval hilltop village
Perched at 400 metres on a rocky spur overlooking the Ouvèze, Le Crestet is one of the finest medieval villages of Haut-Vaucluse. On Thursday 14 May 2026, Ascension Day, the town hall square becomes an open-air market from 8 am. A must-see event taking advantage of the bank holiday to welcome bargain hunters from Vaucluse and the neighbouring Drôme.
The 9th-century castle, once owned by the bishops of Vaison, still watches over the fortified village. Saint-Sauveur church, the wash-house, fountain and panoramic terrace create a picturesque backdrop. Views extend to Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Vaison plain.
A quintessential village flea market with classic Provençal bric-a-brac: old tableware, tools, clothing, toys, books, decor, small furniture, linen and trinkets.
Thursday 14 May 2026, Ascension Day, from 8 am. Free admission.
Place de la Mairie, 84110 Le Crestet. Parking recommended at the foot of the village.
Mostly private sellers. Prior registration with Le Crestet town hall.
