Each year in September, the Comité des Fêtes de Bourcefranc-le-Chapus organizes its grand flea market car boot sale on the Route de la Grognasse. This popular event attracts between 50 and 100 exhibitors and many visitors who come to hunt for treasures by the sea, in this oyster-farming town in Charente-Maritime facing the Île d'Oléron.

Bourcefranc-le-Chapus is a town in the Marennes-Oléron basin, known for its oyster parks, its viaduct to Oléron, and its maritime heritage. The Route de la Grognasse, set back from the coast, offers a clear and flat space ideal for hosting the flea market stalls. The salty air and proximity to the sea add a special charm to this autumn treasure hunting day.

Bargains and conviviality

Exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, offer a wide range of goods: crockery, trinkets, second-hand clothes, toys, small furniture, books, and decorative items. The exhibitor fee of €4 per linear meter makes the event accessible to all. The coffee offered to exhibitors from 6:30 am, the refreshment stand, and on-site catering contribute to the warm atmosphere of this back-to-school flea market.
