In mid-August, at the height of the summer season, the Place de l'Éperon in Saint-Trojan-les-Bains hosts its second major flea market car boot sale of the summer. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes, this August edition brings together between 100 and 200 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, on this vast natural esplanade lined with pine trees, just a stone's throw from the coast.

A flea market in the heart of high season

The August edition benefits from the high tourist influx that characterizes the Île d'Oléron at this time. Holidaymakers from all over France mingle with locals and regular bargain hunters to browse the stalls laden with furniture, tableware, books, vintage clothing, toys, and collectibles. The atmosphere is festive and relaxed, reflecting the charm of this popular seaside resort.

The Place de l'Éperon, a remarkable site

Accessible from the Boulevard de la Plage, the Place de l'Éperon is a protected natural area with an exceptional tree-lined setting. The maritime pines offer welcome shade in the summer heat, while the immediate proximity to the sea brings a pleasant coolness. This site, usually frequented by walkers and sports enthusiasts, transforms for a day into a vast open-air flea market.

The August flea market is held on a Sunday in mid-August, from 7:30 AM to 6 PM for visitors. Entry is free. Exhibitors set up from 6 AM, at a rate of 4 euros per linear meter, with no prior registration required. Fast food and drinks are available on-site by the Comité des Fêtes.
