Spring market, free flea market and hikes in the Marche mountains
The Fête du Printemps d'Arrènes was born from the desire of this small Creuse commune to celebrate the arrival of the beautiful season with an event combining flea market, spring market and hiking. The event takes place rue de l'Église, in the heart of the village, and on the surrounding paths, offering visitors a full day of treasure hunting, discovering local products, and nature excursions.
The spring market brings together local artisans and producers (stall fee: 5 euros) with their creations and specialties: garden plants, honey, cheeses, jams, breads, and pastries made on site. In parallel, a free flea market (free stall) allows individuals to sell second-hand items, trinkets, and various finds. Admission is free for visitors.
The originality of this festival lies in its three hiking routes of 7, 13.5, and 16 kilometers, with free departure from 8 am (registration: 2 euros). These circuits wind through the Monts de la Marche, offering panoramas of the wooded valleys and high-altitude meadows in this area located between Guéret and Bourganeuf, on the edge of the Plateau de Millevaches.
Perched at over 500 meters altitude in the Monts de la Marche, Arrènes is a typical village of deep Creuse, with its granite houses, its Romanesque church, and its landscapes of moors and hedgerows. The commune, attached to the canton of Guéret, is located near Marsac and Saint-Goussaud, forming a network of small rural villages animated by dynamic associative life.
