Annual flea market in the village of Saint-Goussaud, a shepherd village in the Monts de la Marche
The Brocante de Saint-Goussaud, organized by the Amicale Gonsaldienne, is held every spring in the heart of this village of character perched at 668 meters above sea level in the Monts de la Marche. Saint-Goussaud, whose inhabitants are called Gonsaldiens, is renowned for its small pastoral heritage: shepherd's huts, dry stone walls, and fish ponds bear witness to the work of peasant builders. This popular flea market welcomes individuals and professionals from 6:30 AM for a long day of treasure hunting, with refreshments and food available on site.
Every spring, the village of Saint-Goussaud hosts its annual flea market, organized by the Amicale Gonsaldienne. From 6:30 AM, exhibitors set up along the village streets to offer antiques, second-hand goods, used items, and curiosities to early morning treasure hunters. The event continues until 7 PM, offering a long day of treasure hunting in an authentic rural setting.
Perched at 668 meters above sea level in the Monts de la Marche, on the border of Creuse and Haute-Vienne, Saint-Goussaud is a village of character with a rich and varied heritage. The shepherd's huts, dry stone constructions used as shelters in high-altitude pastures, bear witness to a centuries-old pastoral tradition. The dry stone walls, the fish ponds (fish ponds), and the ancient paths form a landscape shaped by generations of peasant builders.
The commune is home to three historical monuments and offers a preserved natural environment of heathlands, peat bogs, and beech forests. The hiking trails that crisscross the Monts de la Marche allow visitors to discover this heritage through walks amidst granite landscapes, high-altitude panoramas, and vestiges of a rich agro-pastoral past.
The Amicale Gonsaldienne brings together the inhabitants and friends of Saint-Goussaud for events and common projects. The annual flea market, the association's flagship event, contributes to the village's liveliness and the maintenance of social ties in this commune of 173 inhabitants. Refreshments and on-site catering are provided by the association, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
