Every year in June, the village of Mourioux-Vieilleville organizes its traditional flea market and car boot sale on the Place Saint-Rémi. Between 50 and 100 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, set up from 6 a.m. to offer visitors a wide range of items: furniture, crockery, trinkets, clothes, toys, books, and all sorts of finds. The doors open to visitors at 8 a.m. for a day of treasure hunting that lasts until 5:30 p.m.
Mourioux-Vieilleville is a rural commune of about 600 inhabitants, born from the merger of the former parishes of Mourioux and Vieilleville. Nestled in the Creuse countryside, on the border of Haute-Vienne, it offers a landscape of rolling meadows, hedgerows, and chestnut woods characteristic of the Limousin region. The village church and granite houses with flat tiled roofs form an authentic setting for treasure hunting.
The exhibitor fee of 1.50 euros per linear meter makes this flea market particularly accessible, attracting both regulars and first-time exhibitors looking to clear out their attics. A coffee is offered to exhibitors upon arrival, and the possibility of parking one's vehicle near the stand makes setup easier. Refreshments and food are available throughout the day, allowing bargain hunters to eat between good deals.
Located about twenty kilometers from Guéret and close to the Lac de Vassivière, Mourioux-Vieilleville benefits from an ideal location for a country getaway. Nature lovers can extend their flea market day with a hike on the marked trails that crisscross the surrounding hills, between flowery meadows and shaded undergrowth.
