Annual flea market and antiques day in the village of Châtelus-le-Marcheix in Creuse
The Journée Antiquités Brocante de Châtelus-le-Marcheix is one of the oldest flea markets in the department of Creuse. For nearly three decades, this event has brought together antique professionals and private individuals every summer in the picturesque streets of this village of character located about thirty kilometers west of Guéret, in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Châtelus-le-Marcheix, a commune of about 500 inhabitants nestled in the Creuse bocage, offers an authentic setting for this day dedicated to lovers of old objects. The village, crossed by the Gartempe river, charms with its preserved architectural heritage: Romanesque church, granite stone houses, restored washhouses. The stalls are set up in the village streets, creating a warm atmosphere conducive to discoveries and exchanges between enthusiasts.
The particularity of this day lies in the presence of exhibitors specializing in antiques alongside traditional flea market vendors. Old furniture, earthenware, folk art objects, old agricultural tools, rare books, and trinkets from all eras make up an eclectic display. The refreshment stand and catering on-site allow for a pleasant extension of this summer day of bargain hunting in the Creuse countryside.
