The Fête du Port: Flea Market and Maritime Friendliness

Every August 15th, the marina of Châtelaillon-Plage comes alive for its annual festival, an event that combines a flea market and car boot sale, musical entertainment, dance shows, and maritime gastronomy. Organized by the AUAPC (Association des Usagers et Amis du Port de Châtelaillon-Plage), this festive day is an opportunity to discover the world of boating and the conviviality of seafarers.

The Marina, Heart of the Festival

The marina, located at 12 cours du Maréchal Juin, provides the ideal setting for this event. The flea market and car boot sale stalls are set up along the quays, between the moored boats and the restaurant terraces. The exhibitors, between 100 and 200, offer second-hand items, trinkets, tableware, and maritime curiosities, at a price of €4 per linear meter for individuals and €7 for professionals.

A Full Festive Program

Beyond the flea market, the Fête du Port offers a rich program of entertainment: seafood and craft market from 8:30 AM, concerts and musical entertainment throughout the day, dance shows from the Dunes neighborhood. Gastronomy is honored with tastings of mussels, oysters, shrimp, grilled sausages, fries, and waffles. The refreshment stand offers cold drinks and coffee offered to exhibitors.

A family-friendly seaside resort located between La Rochelle and Rochefort, Châtelaillon-Plage is renowned for its 3-kilometer sandy beach, its mussel farms (bouchots), and its Belle Époque seaside heritage. The marina, nestled in the Baie d'Yves facing the Île d'Aix, offers protected anchorage and an authentic maritime atmosphere. The Fête du Port perpetuates the maritime tradition of this town where shore fishing and mussel farming are part of daily life.
