The Farfouille of Saint-Martin-le-Châtel
Saint-Martin-le-Châtel is a peaceful commune in Bresse, in the Ain department, located a few kilometers from Bourg-en-Bresse. Every first Sunday of July, the local Comité des Fêtes organizes a farfouille (car boot sale) that attracts bargain hunters from all over the Bresse region.
A Car Boot Sale at a Symbolic Price
The originality of this flea market lies in its particularly affordable price: only 1 euro per linear meter for pitches on the grass. This generous pricing policy attracts many private exhibitors, from 50 to 100 depending on the edition. No reservation is necessary: the first to arrive choose their spot.
A Countryside Setting in Bresse
The flea market takes place at the salle des fêtes (village hall) of Saint-Martin-le-Châtel, on the route de Saint-Didier, with outdoor pitches on the surrounding grassy areas. The setting is typically Bressan, between hedgerows and half-timbered farms, offering an authentic and relaxing atmosphere.
Refreshments and Food
The volunteers of the Comité des Fêtes provide a refreshment and food service throughout the day. Enough to eat and drink pleasantly between two finds.
Farfouille Saint-Martin — edition 2026
The Farfouille de Saint-Martin-le-Châtel returns on Sunday, July 5, 2026, organized by the Municipal Festival Committee (Ain). This annual flea market is held at the village hall and in the village center, where exhibitors and bargain hunters gather from early morning.
Exhibitors can set up from 6 AM, and visitors are welcome from 7 AM until 5 PM. The pitch is charged at €1 per linear meter (symbolic price). A refreshment stand and light catering are provided on site by the association.
Various objects, clothes, toys, trinkets, and crockery: the Farfouille de Saint-Martin-le-Châtel is an unmissable event for bargain hunters in Ain on the first Sunday of July. Sixty to a hundred private exhibitors set up their stalls around the village hall.
