The Farfouille de Saint-Étienne-du-Bois: A May 1st Tradition in Bresse

Every May 1st, the village of Saint-Étienne-du-Bois, in the heart of Bresse in the Ain department, hosts one of the region's largest car boot sales. Organized by the association Maison de Pays en Bresse, this event brings together around 300 private exhibitors on a vast stabilized ground, for a day of outdoor treasure hunting in an authentic rural setting.

300 Exhibitors in the Heart of Bresse

The ground at 321 rue du Revermont is transformed for the occasion into a huge open-air flea market. Individuals offer all sorts of items: clothing, toys, books, dishes, small furniture, trinkets, vinyl records, tools, and decorative objects. The size of the event guarantees a diversity of items to suit all tastes and budgets.

Saint-Étienne-du-Bois is a charming village in Bresse de l'Ain, located north of Bourg-en-Bresse. The commune is known for its typical rural heritage, its half-timbered farmhouses, and its rootedness in Bressan traditions. Information for Exhibitors

Registration is done on-site on the day, without prior reservation, at a rate of €3 per linear meter. Professional exhibitors are not accepted: the Farfouille is exclusively reserved for individuals. The association provides a refreshment stand and snacks for meals throughout the day. Visitors are welcomed from 8 am to 6 pm, while exhibitors can set up from 6 am.
