The village flea market near the Bay of Somme
Estrébœuf is one of those discreet villages of the Somme that many pass through without stopping, but which savvy bargain hunters know well. Its annual flea market, modest in size but authentic in spirit, attracts each year residents of the area and some passing visitors.
Estrébœuf is a commune of around 250 inhabitants located in the Vimeu, between Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and Abbeville. The village stretches over rolling terrain, between meadows, crops and hedgerows that recall the proximity of the coast.
At Estrébœuf, the offering reflects the daily life of the inhabitants: crockery, household linen, clothes, toys, books, small furniture, tools, trinkets. With the proximity of the Bay of Somme, it is not uncommon to find pieces evoking the coast.
The immediate proximity of the Bay of Somme makes Estrébœuf flea market an excellent introduction to a day on the Picardy coast. Just a few kilometres away, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme offers its medieval ramparts.
The Estrébœuf flea market embodies all that makes the charm of rural Picard events: volunteer organisation, modest size, warm atmosphere and refreshments.
