20th Minerals and Fossils Fair at the Espinasses village hall, near Serre-Ponçon lake
The Espinasses Minerals and Fossils Fair is an annual event for collectors and geology enthusiasts. Organized at the Espinasses village hall, a village located on the shores of Lake Serre-Ponçon, this free fair brings together exhibitors and amateurs around minerals, fossils, precious stones, and crystals from the Alps. The 2026 edition celebrates the 20th anniversary of the event.
For twenty years, the Espinasses village hall has hosted a minerals and fossils fair that brings together collectors, amateur geologists, and stone enthusiasts. Exhibitors present Alpine minerals, fossils, precious stones, quartz crystals, and other geological wonders. Admission is free.
Espinasses is a small commune in the Hautes-Alpes located on the south shore of Lake Serre-Ponçon, between Chorges and Embrun. The village overlooks the lake and offers spectacular views of this turquoise body of water surrounded by mountains. The geological richness of the region, marked by Alpine folds and mineral deposits, fully justifies holding this specialized fair.
Exhibitors offer a wide range of second-hand items: antique tableware, trinkets, frames and mirrors, books and magazines, toys, clothing, small appliances, tools, sports equipment, vinyl records and CDs, home linen, and decorative objects. In the Hautes-Alpes, you can also regularly find typical mountain objects: old agricultural tools, cowbells, Savoyard furniture, vintage skis, snowshoes, and hiking equipment. Prices, generally very attractive, make these car boot sales an economical and ecological alternative to buying new.
The Hautes-Alpes department, the least populated in metropolitan France, compensates for its low density with a particularly dynamic associative life. From March to October, car boot sales and flea markets punctuate the life of Alpine villages, offering as many opportunities to hunt for treasures as to get together with neighbors. The summer season, with the influx of tourists and vacationers, multiplies the opportunities: passing visitors willingly stop to rummage through the stalls, sometimes discovering unsuspected Alpine treasures. The exceptional mountain setting of the department adds a unique dimension to these events, combining grandiose panoramas and the pure air of the summits.
The Espinasses fair is a specialized collectors' event that attracts a discerning audience from all over the PACA region and beyond. Visitors can observe, buy, and exchange geological specimens, while benefiting from the advice of passionate exhibitors. The atmosphere is that of a friendly and educational enthusiasts' fair.
