Espace Chineurs de Compans

A solidarity and popular flea market

The Espace Chineurs de Compans is a flea market unlike any other. Created by the City of Toulouse as part of a solidarity initiative, it allows people in precarious economic and social situations to sell second-hand and recycled items. Every Saturday morning, around 60 exhibitors set up shop on the pedestrian path connecting Boulevard Lascrosses to Place de l'Europe, along the magnificent Japanese garden of Compans-Caffarelli.

Low prices and great finds

The offerings at Espace Chineurs are resolutely focused on accessibility and reuse:

• Clothing and shoes: second-hand clothes, children's wear, used shoes;
• Tableware and utensils: plates, glasses, saucepans, small appliances;
• Books and media: novels, magazines, DVDs, CDs;
• Toys and games: plush toys, board games, figurines;
• Small furniture and decoration: shelves, frames, lamps, trinkets;
• Tools and DIY: hardware, hand tools.

Prices are among the lowest in Toulouse, and the atmosphere of the place encourages conviviality and exchange rather than pure commerce.

A green setting in the city center

The location of Espace Chineurs is particularly pleasant. The market runs alongside the Compans-Caffarelli garden, which houses Toulouse's famous Japanese garden, one of the most beautiful in France. After Saturday morning's treasure hunt, it's a pleasure to extend your walk in this 10-hectare landscaped park, a true green lung in the heart of the city.
