Summer rendezvous for bargain hunters in the Luberon
Cucuron, a perched village of the southern Luberon crowned by the remains of its medieval castle, hosts its collectors flea market every August. The event takes over the old town, near the iconic pond lined with plane trees, a setting made famous by scenes from Marcel Pagnol-inspired films.
This August edition attracts holidaymakers and Luberon regulars. Exhibitors spread through the village lanes, around the Notre-Dame-de-Beaulieu church and the shaded squares. You wander slowly, Provençal style, between cicadas and the shade of the plane trees.
The fair draws bargain hunters in search of old Provençal furniture, farm tools, Provençal ceramic tableware, vintage linen, paintings, engravings, old postcards of the Vaucluse and many collectibles: vinyl records, vintage toys, old books, militaria. The presence of specialized collectors is the hallmark of this event.
Cucuron retains remarkable heritage: 13th-century Saint-Michel tower, fortified church, historic town houses, cobbled streets and above all the communal pond fed by a medieval spring. It is also the heart of AOP Luberon wine and Provençal olive oil production. After browsing, visitors enjoy the terraces lining the pond.
Cucuron is 30 minutes south of Apt via the D943 or D27 from Cadenet. Park in the village lots (free but limited in high season, come early).
Daytime event, usually 7am to 6pm. Check Brocabrac or town hall for final times.
