8 May car boot sale organised in the village of Pessac-sur-Dordogne, in Pays Foyen
Every May 8th, the village of Pessac-sur-Dordogne (33890) hosts its annual car boot sale. Private sellers set up their stalls in the village centre to offer a wide range of second-hand items: clothes, toys, books, crockery, trinkets, small furniture, and decorative objects. The public holiday encourages a large turnout, with families taking advantage of this day off to stroll and hunt for treasures.
Pessac-sur-Dordogne is a commune of about 500 inhabitants located at the easternmost tip of Gironde, on the left bank of the Dordogne river, facing the Dordogne department. The village belongs to the Pays Foyen region, near Sainte-Foy-la-Grande and Castillon-la-Bataille. Its hillsides planted with vines under the Bordeaux and Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux appellations overlook the Dordogne valley, offering remarkable panoramas. The village retains an authentic rural heritage with its stone houses and Romanesque church.
The choice of May 8th for this car boot sale is not insignificant: the public holiday allows families to get together and fully enjoy this outdoor treasure hunting day. Entry is free and a refreshment stand is usually provided by the organisers. The bucolic setting on the banks of the Dordogne adds to the pleasure of this rural getaway.
From Bordeaux, take the A89 towards Périgueux, exit at Castillon-la-Bataille then take the D936E towards Pessac-sur-Dordogne. Approximately 75 km east of Bordeaux.
