40 exhibitors at the village hall for Pentecost: pétanque, evening meal, fireworks and free dance
Every Pentecost Sunday, Chanteuges celebrates the summer with its car boot sale organized in the village hall, rue des Bords de Desges. About forty exhibitors set up for free (up to 6m for individuals) in a true village festival atmosphere. The day continues into the evening with a meal, fireworks, and a free dance, while pétanque livens up the afternoon.
Chanteuges, a village in the Desges valley in Haute-Loire, celebrates an event every Pentecost Sunday that goes far beyond a simple car boot sale. At the village hall, 1 rue des Bords de Desges, about forty exhibitors set up to offer their second-hand items, but it is the popular festival atmosphere that distinguishes this event from others.
The conditions for exhibitors are particularly attractive: individuals benefit from free pitches up to 6 linear meters, while professionals pay one euro per meter. This fair system encourages participation from residents of the village and surrounding areas, who come to clear out their attics in a friendly atmosphere. Visitors will find a varied offer ranging from flea market finds and antiques to clothing, toys, and everyday objects.
The Pentecost car boot sale in Chanteuges is also, and above all, a complete festive program. From the afternoon onwards, a tournament or games of pétanque liven up the village, bringing together experienced players and amateurs. In the evening, a communal meal allows the day's conviviality to continue around a shared table.
The highlight of the show arrives in the evening with fireworks that illuminate the sky of the Desges valley, followed by a free dance open to all. This complete festive program makes the Pentecost weekend in Chanteuges a true moment of village celebration, in the tradition of the great rural celebrations of Haute-Loire. Families, neighbors, and visitors gather to dance and enjoy this summer evening together.
Chanteuges is a village steeped in history, dominated by the ruins of its Benedictine priory founded in the 11th century. Perched above the confluence of the Desges and the Allier, the village offers magnificent panoramas of the gorge and the plateaus of the Massif Central. The Pentecost car boot sale is the ideal opportunity to discover this exceptional heritage while enjoying a festive day.
The car boot sale is held at the village hall, 1 rue des Bords de Desges, 43300 Chanteuges. Free pitches up to 6m for individuals, €1/m for professionals. Program: car boot sale during the day, pétanque in the afternoon, evening meal, fireworks, and free dance in the evening.
