An exceptional village event in Haute-Loire.
Saint-Jean-de-Nay is a village in Haute-Loire located in the Cayres area, west of Le Puy-en-Velay. Every end of August, this rural town transforms for a long weekend into a true place of celebration: it's the Vogue, a traditional term in Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes to designate the village's patronal festival. And the Vogue of Saint-Jean-de-Nay is a celebration that amply deserves its reputation.
Sunday, the last day of the Vogue, is notably dedicated to the car boot sale. From 7 am, exhibitors set up in the village center, taking advantage of the completely free spots. No prior registration, no fees: the Vogue of Saint-Jean-de-Nay focuses on accessibility to attract the maximum number of participants. Stalls line the village streets, offering bric-a-brac, furniture, tableware, clothing, and various curiosities in a festive and lively atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the Vogue of Saint-Jean-de-Nay is the vintage vehicle exhibition. Cars, motorcycles, tractors, and vintage machinery are displayed in the village center, attracting collectors and lovers of mechanical history. Gleaming and showcased in their exhibition space, these witnesses to a not-so-distant past offer a nostalgic and fascinating spectacle to visitors of all ages.
The Vogue of Saint-Jean-de-Nay also features chainsaw sculpting demonstrations, a spectacular art where artisan sculptors transform tree trunks into works of art before the astonished eyes of the public. These creations, made live with speed and precision, are then exhibited or auctioned. This type of entertainment, rare in the villages of Haute-Loire, gives the Vogue of Saint-Jean-de-Nay an artistic and original dimension.
The Vogue program is completed by a float parade, a popular festive tradition that mobilizes the village inhabitants in the design and decoration of their floats. The funfair attractions set up for the event delight the younger ones, while the evening fireworks conclude the festivities with a bang. This diversity of entertainment makes the Vogue of Saint-Jean-de-Nay one of the most complete and popular events in this part of Haute-Loire at the end of summer.
The Vogue is a cultural institution in Haute-Loire and throughout the Massif Central. In Saint-Jean-de-Nay, this tradition is enthusiastically perpetuated by the inhabitants and volunteers who dedicate weeks of preparation to offer a quality event to their community and visitors. Each edition renews the village's social bond and strengthens its identity.
The Vogue of Saint-Jean-de-Nay returns at the end of August 2026 for three days. Free car boot sale from 7 am on Sunday, vintage vehicle exhibition, chainsaw sculptures, floats, funfair attractions, and fireworks.
