Souillac Book Festival: Annual booksellers' fair at Salle du Bellay
As part of the Souillac Book Festival, the Journées des Bouquinistes (Booksellers' Days) bring together second-hand book professionals at the Salle du Bellay at the beginning of June. Comics, poetry, classics, children's books, old and modern works: a paradise for book lovers at affordable prices. Free entry, catering on site.
Every early June, Souillac transforms into the Quercy capital of second-hand books. The Book Festival hosts its Journées des Bouquinistes at the Salle du Bellay, bringing together professionals specializing in second-hand, rare, or collectible books. For two days, bibliophiles, passionate readers, and the simply curious can browse through tens of thousands of books at accessible prices.
The Salle du Bellay in Souillac hosts the stands of professional booksellers for this fair, which is both a commercial and cultural event. The special atmosphere of second-hand book fairs—the smell of old paper, piles of books overflowing from tables, bibliophiles poring over shelves—is particularly well captured here. The carefully selected exhibitors offer thematic or general collections, covering the entire literary output of the 20th century and beyond.
The Journées des Bouquinistes de Souillac cover a very wide spectrum of book production: comic books of all eras (Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke, but also manga and contemporary comics), poetry and classic literature, detective novels and genre literature, children's books and illustrated albums, art books, fine books and exhibition catalogs, history and science books, technical and professional works. Prices remain modest and accessible, allowing all budgets to leave with great finds.
The Souillac Book Festival is an associative initiative that contributes to the cultural life of this dynamic town in the Lot, known for its Romanesque abbey and its famous Zampognar automaton. By bringing together professional booksellers and a public passionate about books each year, the Book Festival plays a role in promoting reading and second-hand books, in a spirit of cultural democratization and sustainable development (book reuse). On-site catering allows for a pleasant extension of the visit.
The Journées des Bouquinistes of the Souillac Book Festival are scheduled for early June 2026 at the Salle du Bellay.
