Car boot sale of the Mid-July Festival in Trévérien, along the canal, with palet competition, mussels and fries, and fireworks
Every mid-July, the village of Trévérien (35190) organizes its Mid-July Festival, a festive day for which the car boot sale is the main attraction. Private sellers set up their stalls on the grounds along the Ille-et-Rance canal, offering clothes, toys, books, trinkets, crockery, and various items for €2 per linear meter, without reservation. From 8 am to 6 pm, bargain hunters browse the stalls in a green and bucolic setting by the water. Vehicles are allowed on the grounds.
Trévérien is a small commune of about 700 inhabitants located in the north of Ille-et-Vilaine, along the Ille-et-Rance canal. This historic canal, dug in the 19th century to connect Rennes to Saint-Malo via Dinan, offers a remarkable landscape of towpaths, locks, and hedgerow scenery. Trévérien benefits from this river heritage to liven up its summer festival, attracting strollers and bargain hunters from all over the north of the department.
The Mid-July Festival is not limited to the car boot sale: a palet competition, fairground rides, food stalls (crepes, grills), and a mussels and fries meal in the evening complete the program. The day ends beautifully with fireworks launched by the canal, followed by a popular dance. Admission is free for the whole day.
From Rennes, take the D137 towards Saint-Malo then the D73 towards Trévérien (approx. 45 km, 45 min). From Dinan, take the D2 towards Trévérien (20 km).
