Annual car boot sale of the Amicale de Larressingle in the smallest fortified village in France, in the Gers Ténarèze region
Every year in June, the Amicale de Larressingle organizes its car boot sale in this exceptional fortified village, often presented as the smallest fortified village in France. A stone's throw from Condom, in the heart of the Gers Ténarèze, private sellers set up their stalls between the medieval ramparts and the alleys of this perched village surrounded by moats. A rare and picturesque event that attracts bargain hunters and visitors in a unique historical setting.
Every month of June, the Amicale de Larressingle organizes a unique car boot sale within and around this 13th-century fortified village, often described as the "smallest fortified village in France" and sometimes nicknamed the "Carcassonne of the Gers". Private sellers set up their stalls from 8 am to 6 pm between the ramparts, in the cobbled alleys, and on the castle square, creating a timeless atmosphere for bargain hunting, in the heart of remarkably preserved medieval heritage.
Located a few kilometers from Condom, Larressingle is a fortified village whose ramparts date back to the 13th century. The medieval complex includes a ruined keep, a fortified Romanesque church, restored houses, and a drawbridge crossing the moats that surround the village. The almost intact ramparts enclose a tiny space where time seems to have stood still. The village is one of the most visited sites in the Gers and is an essential stop on the route of Armagnac and the paths of Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.
The Amicale de Larressingle brings together the inhabitants and friends of the village around friendly and cultural activities. The annual car boot sale is their flagship event, offering a unique opportunity to discover the village in a festive and relaxed atmosphere. The organization provides refreshments and light catering on-site, allowing visitors to spend a full day between bargain hunting and heritage discovery. The profits contribute to the animation and maintenance of the village.
Hunting for bargains within the fortified walls of Larressingle is an unforgettable experience: the stone ramparts, the moats, the keep, and the Romanesque church form an extraordinary medieval backdrop for browsing the flea market stalls. Sellers offer crockery, trinkets, clothes, books, tools, and attic curiosities. The small size of the village creates an intimate and warm atmosphere, a world away from large urban flea markets. Visitors are invited to extend their visit with a walk in the surrounding countryside, amidst the Armagnac vineyards and the rolling landscapes of Ténarèze.
