Fanlac, the village of Jacquou le Croquant

Fanlac is inseparable from Eugène Le Roy's novel Jacquou le Croquant, the action of which takes place in the village's surroundings. This major work of Périgord literature, adapted several times for cinema and television, has made this corner of the Dordogne known throughout France. The Château de l'Herm, a ruined fortress that inspired the novel, stands a few kilometers from the village in the Barade forest.

Fanlac is a small village perched on the heights between Montignac-Lascaux and Les Eyzies, in the heart of Périgord Noir.
