Summer car boot sale on the Génissac fairground, a wine village in the Libournais region
Every year on the last Sunday of August, the municipality of Génissac organizes a car boot sale on the fairground. This shaded and well-equipped area hosts numerous private sellers who offer clothes, toys, books, tableware, trinkets, tools, and decorative items. The Génissac car boot sale is a popular event for treasure hunters in the Libournais and Entre-deux-Mers regions to close the summer season.
Génissac is a commune of about 2,000 inhabitants located on the hills of the right bank of the Dordogne river, a few kilometers northeast of Libourne. The vineyard, planted on clay-gravelly soils, produces wines under the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. The village, dominated by its bell tower, offers a panoramic view of the Dordogne valley. The fairground, located below, is a traditional gathering space that hosts markets and events throughout the year.
The Génissac car boot sale marks the end of the summer holidays with a friendly treasure hunting day. The shade of the fairground offers pleasant comfort during this summer period. Refreshments and food allow visitors to spend the day on site. The atmosphere is relaxed, with regulars and holidaymakers passing through the Libournais region.
