Car boot sale in the hamlet of Murel — Martel, Lot
3 km north of Martel, the hamlet of Murel is one of the most charming in Quercy. Its golden stone houses, its old church, and its communal bread oven form an exceptional setting that the association Les Amis de Murel highlights each year during its car boot sale. The event, now in its fifth edition, has established itself as one of the most authentic gatherings in the Lot department.
The uniqueness of this car boot sale lies in its setting: exhibitors do not set up in a parking lot or a commonplace square, but in the alleys, courtyards, and nooks of the medieval hamlet. Around the old Romanesque church and the bread oven, stalls of clothing, toys, crockery, books, and everyday objects stand alongside the ancient stones of the village in a picturesque harmony much appreciated by visitors.
The Friends of Murel do more than just organize a simple car boot sale: they heat up the bread oven for the occasion, offering freshly baked loaves for sale. A refreshment stand and light catering complete the gastronomic offer. Musical entertainment is provided by Les Aiglons Martelais, a local band that injects a festive touch into this beautiful day. Parking is available for visitors arriving by car.
During its fifth edition, this car boot sale has solidified its place among the must-see events on the Lot's summer calendar. The association Les Amis de Murel, driven by a love for local heritage, can be proud to have created an event that attracts more and more exhibitors and visitors each year.
The car boot sale is held annually in July in the hamlet of Murel, 46600 Martel. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free entry. Contact: 06 33 79 09 37.
