Every July 14th, Thiron-Gardais celebrates the national holiday with a festive day combining a flea market, car boot sale, and book fair. From 6 am to 7 pm, about forty exhibitors set up in the village, while the local media library organizes the book fair. Thiron-Gardais is a village in the Perche region of about 1,000 inhabitants, famous for its Abbey of the Holy Trinity founded in 1114 by Saint Bernard of Thiron. At its peak in the Middle Ages, the Thiron-gardian congregation had over a hundred dependent monasteries, spread across France, Brittany, Scotland, and Wales. The partially preserved Romanesque abbey church is one of the jewels of the Romanesque heritage of the Perche.
