Car boot sale of the canal festival in Saint-Congard, a village on the banks of the Nantes to Brest Canal
The Saint-Congard car boot sale takes place at the town's sports hall, as part of the canal festival. This friendly event brings together the villagers and bargain hunters from the surrounding area for a day of good deals.
Saint-Congard is a village of about 800 inhabitants, the Congardais, located in the interior of Morbihan, halfway between Malestroit and Rochefort-en-Terre. The village is bordered by the Nantes to Brest Canal and the Oust river, which attract over 40,000 hikers to the towpath each year. This green setting between the Gulf of Morbihan and the Paimpont forest makes it a popular stop for cyclists and walkers.
Despite its small size, Saint-Congard is distinguished by its active associative fabric. The canal car boot sale attracts residents from neighboring towns: Pleucadeuc, Les Fougerêts, Cournon, and Malestroit. The atmosphere is village-like and warm, characteristic of events in inland Brittany.
